Dead Pixel Test

The problem: You just bought a new monitor or TV and have a short return window — but dead or stuck pixels are invisible on your normal desktop background.

How to use — quick guide

Start this dead pixel test on your new monitor or TV and the screen fills with one solid colour. Click to cycle through black, white, red, green and blue, scanning for any dot that stays the wrong colour, then press Esc to exit. Do it on day one, inside your return window. It is free, needs no signup, and runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Click start — the screen fills with a solid colour.
  2. Click to cycle black, white, red, green and blue, scanning for dots that do not match.
  3. Press Esc to exit. Any pixel that stays the wrong colour on every screen is dead; one wrong on only some colours may be stuck.

Frequently asked questions

Dead vs stuck pixel — what is the difference?

A dead pixel is black on every colour. A stuck pixel glows one colour (red, green or blue) and can sometimes be fixed.

How many dead pixels before I can return it?

Policies vary by brand — many allow returns within the first days regardless. Test on day one.

Can stuck pixels be fixed?

Sometimes, with rapid colour-cycling videos or gentle pressure — but test and decide inside your return window first.
