Keyboard Test

The problem: One key on your keyboard feels off — but is it actually broken, or is it the app? You need proof before you buy a new keyboard or return this one.

How to use — quick guide

Click on the page, then use this keyboard test online by pressing every key on your physical keyboard, one by one. Each key lights up green on screen the moment it registers, so any key that never lights is the faulty one — proof before you return or replace the keyboard. Free, no signup, and nothing is installed.

How to use it

  1. Click into this page and press every key on your physical keyboard.
  2. Each key lights up green on screen as it registers.
  3. Any key that never lights up is not reaching your computer — that is the broken one.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a key not light up?

Either the switch/contact is faulty, or the operating system intercepts it (some media and Fn keys never reach the browser). Try those keys in another app before concluding.

Does it test holding a key down?

Yes — the key highlights while held, and key-repeat is ignored so the log stays clean.

Will it work on a phone?

On-screen phone keyboards do not send hardware key events. Use a physical keyboard for this test.
